Yes. Privacy is protected by HIPAA and New Jersey state law. Exceptions apply only if there is an immediate danger to self or others, or suspected abuse of children or vulnerable adults. Otherwise it’s just you, me and your thoughts.

Virtual sessions will use Google Meets which is a HIPAA-secure video platform. Clients need a private, quiet space and a stable internet connection.

Complete Intake Paperwork:
Sign and submit your informed consent, practice policies, and background forms through your client portal before the meeting. Otherwise, we may need to reschedule to provide you with enough time to complete these forms in full.Test Your Technology:
For telehealth, click the video link 5 minutes early to test your camera and microphone. For in-person visits, check your travel route and instructions on parking options.Write Down Your Goals:
Note what main issues or symptoms you want to discuss during your intake session. This can make it easier for you to feel prepared.Prepare a Safe Space:
Find a private room or wear headphones if you are taking a telehealth call from home or work. -
Cancellations will be subject to a $50 LATE CANCELLATION/NON-EMERGENCY CANCELLATION FEE. Insurance companies generally do not reimburse missed appointment fees and it is expected that the client will pay cancellation fees out of pocket. Exceptions may be made for emergencies at the counselor's discretion. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.

Therapy typically starts on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to build momentum, and sessions can be spaced out as you make progress. If you you need to meet more or less as we work together, we can talk it out in a way that makes sense to you.

My main theoretical orientation, or therapeutic approach, is Psychodynamic Therapy. This means that I believe in our therapeutic connection is important, and everything happens for a reason. So, the symptoms and stressors you are currently experiencing could be stemming from your past. However, this approach tends to blend and can be flexible with other therapeutic styles, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. This is all based on your needs in the moment and our therapeutic relationship.
